Hinchingbrooke Year 11 Girls Crowned Cambs Schools FA County Champions
Hinchingbrooke School Year 11 Girls Football Team signed off their final season in unforgettable style on Thursday 30th April, securing a dominant 5–0 victory over Comberton Village College in the Cambridgeshire Schools FA U16 County Cup Final at Godmanchester Rovers FC.
From the first whistle, Hinchingbrooke set the tone with intensity and confidence, that reflected years of playing together. Their attacking intent paid off with a superb brace from Tia, with further goals from Lexie, Martha, and Susie completed an outstanding team performance.
Coach Thurston named two Players of the Match for their exceptional contributions. Tia earned recognition for her two goals and an assist, influencing the game at every opportunity. Libby was also deservedly acknowledged for her work rate and willingness to step into multiple roles for the benefit of the team.
This victory crowns Hinchingbrooke as County Champions in their final match together, a fitting end to an incredible journey.
It has been a privilege to support and watch this group of players over the years. Having been together as a team since Year 7, they leave behind a legacy of commitment, teamwork, and success that will inspire future teams for years to come.
Regional NFL UK Flag Football Finals 🏈
Our 15U Girls Flag Team and 15U Open Flag Team were in action today at Cambridge Rugby Club, and what a day it was!
Both teams were phenomenal from start to finish, showcasing incredible skill, teamwork, and some seriously exciting plays.
A special mention to our 15U Girls who went UNDEFEATED on the day 💪🔥

U13 Girls ESFA Cup Round 4 (L64) vs St George’s Academy
Captain’s Report – Clara
The super HBK Year 8 girls have made it through to the last 32 in the NATIONAL CUP.
HBK played a very strong St George’s school from Lincolnshire and battled through to reach a win on penalties. HBK showed great resilience after going 1-0 down, Clara then scored 2 goals in quick succession to make it 2-1 with 15 minutes to play. Dede then pulled off some fantastic saves and the defence remained solid but finally succumbed and conceded a goal in the final minutes to lead to penalties.
The girls held their nerve to slot their penalties away, the game then went into sudden death, more penalties were scored but to win the game Dede made an outstanding save to send the girls through to the next round.
Opponents’ player of the match was Cataleya who played a brilliant game, Sophie was very strong playing against some tricky wingers. Overall, I am very proud with how we played and can’t wait for the next round!!

U16 Boys County Cup Round 1 vs Neal Wade
On a grey Monday afternoon, the U15’s had a game in the u16 county cup against Neal Wade Academy. We had a good start to the game and for the first 20 minutes there was no goals just some good football from our players. Around 25 minutes in Will managed to find Joe and Joe slots it top right corner. Around 5 minutes later Will again found Joe and he was calm and composed and slotted it in bottem right corner. That meant we finished the first half at 2-0
At the start of the second half it was a scrappy game, with the ball being booted up a lot but Hinchingbrooke had more possession. Around 20 minutes into the second half Neal Wade Academy managed to score a nice header from a corner. It was some poor marking from Hinchingbrooke but we didn’t let that ruin our game. The next 15 minutes was a battle to not concede but we fought hard and with 5 minutes left Isaac found the ball on the edge of the box and smashed it bottom right to seal the game at 3-1. Overall it was a good team performance playing a year up and we managed to battle hard and work for the fantastic win.

U13 Girls Sisters n Sport Round 1 vs Culford School
Hinchingbrooke School U13 Girls put in a spirited performance in the opening round of the Sisters n Sport Shield but ultimately fell 4–2 to a strong Culford side.
Culford started brightly, applying early pressure and capitalising on two well-worked attacking moves to take a 2–0 lead. Despite the tough opening spell, Hinchingbrooke regrouped impressively. Their determination shone through as Lucy fired home a composed finish to reduce the deficit, before adding a second with another clinical strike. Her brace brought the score to 2–2 at half time, a deserved reward for the team’s fightback and resilience.
The second half remained competitive, with both sides pushing for control. Hinchingbrooke continued to work tirelessly, but Culford managed to convert two further chances to secure the 4–2 victory.
There were plenty of positives for Hinchingbrooke to take from the match. Ettie was outstanding throughout, showing composure, intelligence, and relentless energy—earning her one of the coaches’ Star Player awards. Lucy, with her two-goal performance and tireless work rate, deservedly shared the accolade.
Culford selected Emily as the Opposition Star Player.
Although the result didn’t fall their way, Hinchingbrooke can be proud of their impressive comeback and the quality they showed throughout the match.
U14 Girls County Cup Round 1 vs Ernulf
On Monday 24th November, we played Ernulf for the 1st round of the county cup. Just before the start of the match, we realised we were two players down. Despite this difficulty, I went on to win the coin toss and kicked off, starting the match.
Right off the bat, the weather wasn’t on our side. This affected our performance in the first half. Our game play wasn’t our best and it didn’t help that we were playing with one player short (my mistake).
However, the girls performance picked up significantly in the second half. Special mentions to Liv, Lily and Maryam. They all showed brilliant teamwork, sportsmanship and skill. Our top goal scorers were Clara who scored two amazing goals in the first and second half and also Liv who scored an absolute pinger in the second half. Also some excellent tackles from Sadhbh in defence.
Overall despite some minor setbacks, I think the girls played incredibly well and gave it their all. We came out victorious, with the score being 3-0 to us. The player who worked their hardest and stood out above the rest was Clara, who is my Player of the Match.
U13 Girls Football Sisters N Sport
The girls faced new opposition in a new competition (@sistersnsport) for the school. It was the first time the girls have played 11 a-side for the school and showed amazing determination against a strong St Alban’s High School for Girls team. The result did not go the way the girls hoped for but it acted as great preparation for their National Cup match on Monday.

U12 Girls ESFA Cup Round 3 vs St Ivo
Round 3 of the @schoolsfootball U12 Cup was a local derby against St Ivo Academy. They battled tirelessly throughout the match and were unlucky to only score the one goal. It’s the end of the national cup run for the girls but the school will be back in action for the Christmas break for the first round of the county cup.

On Friday afternoon hbk year 8s continued their cup run vs a very strong sawtry side in terrible conditions. We took an early lead with clara rounding the goalkeeper. Sawtry then returned with two quick goals. In the second half we battled better with jess and cat scoring one each resulting in a well deserved win for hbk. All of the girls were amazing with Sophie getting coaches potm on her debut of the year 8 team and captains was aliya both battling very well in defence. Very proud of all the girls and now we are now looking forward for the next round!!

U18 Boys ESFA Cup Round 4 vs King’s Peterborough
Under the lights it was a cagey start to the match which was starved of chances, with neither team able to gain control of the game.
Kings took the lead after HBK failed to deal with a corner mid way through the first half, which was the wake up call needed but as we reached half time we were unable to fashion any real chances to level the game.
The second half offered up few chances but the pressure began to build and after winning the ball high up the pitch a cross field ball to the back post from Smith was tapped in by Masvipurwa to level the game at 1-1.
The game went to penalties and after the first 5 we still couldn’t be separated (4-4), so into sudden death we went, with every sudden death penalty scored until the 33rd, and it wasn’t until the 38th penalty was missed by Kings that we eventually came away winners of the tie, 1-1 (16-15 pens)

U12 Boys Football County Cup Round 1 vs St Peter’s
U13 Boys District Rugby Tournament
In a thrilling District Final against Longsands, the team delivered an incredible performance to secure a dominant 42-0 victory and claim the district title. From start to finish, the players showed determination, teamwork, and a winning mentality that left no doubt about who deserved the trophy.
The scrum once again proved to be a real weapon, providing a strong platform for attack throughout the match. The forwards battled hard in every contest, setting up clean ball for the backs to run onto.
Max, captaining from scrum half, led superbly — keeping the tempo high, distributing the ball with precision, and organising the team’s structure with confidence and control. His leadership and composure were key to maintaining momentum all game long.
Out wide, Stan and Quelle were unstoppable. Both players showed brilliant pace and footwork, scoring multiple tries each and constantly breaking through Longsands’ defence. Their attacking flair and relentless effort on both sides of the ball made them a constant threat.
Tom also made his mark on the scoreboard, finishing off a fantastic team move to add another try to the tally, while continuing to make strong runs down the wing.
The defence was equally impressive, with everyone putting in determined tackles to shut down Longsands’ attacking opportunities. The forwards worked tirelessly at the breakdown, and the backs communicated brilliantly to keep the defensive line solid.
By the final whistle, the scoreboard read 42-0, a testament to the team’s effort, skill, and spirit. It was a complete performance and the perfect way to finish the tournament — a proud moment for both players and coaches alike.

U14 Boys ESFA Cup Round 2 vs Parkside
We started of the game having no idea how good this team was. But we were prepared and started of strongly but made a costly error which resulted into us going 1-0 down early on. We started of strong but shortly after we conceded again. We stayed calm and slowly got back into it with a goal from Charlie and the assist from Cayden . But unfortunately, shortly before half time we went 3-1 down.
Going into the second Half we all knew we could come back in this game. We started the second half aggressively trying to get an early goal but unfortunately, we conceded 2 quick goals, and we thought the game was over, But we started playing good football, making overlapping runs, Making strong challenges defensively and passing the ball around. We had a lot of chances, but we finally scored with 10 minutes to go with a goal from Tommy and the assist from Harry. That gave us a bit of Hope that we could go on and win but that hope was soon gone when they scored 2 almost back-to-back goals. We carried on playing good football. But unfortunately, we ended up losing 7-2.
U12 Girls Football Festival
On the 10th of October, 14 girls (split into two teams) attended a football festival. Both teams played 5 matches. Across the matches we had many shots on targets and many goals which were scored by Belle, Eva, Liv, Lucy. Both teams had a mixture of results winning some, drawing some and losing one or two. We had a great time and are looking forward to the next opportunity.
U13 District Rugby vs Abbey
In a thrilling home fixture against Abby College, the team put on an outstanding performance, showing real determination, teamwork, and spirit throughout the match.
From the very first whistle, the scrum was dominant, with a powerful lineup of Ed, Jack, Benny, and Aidan leading the charge up front, while Austen and Logan provided strength and stability at the back. Their control in the set pieces gave the backs a solid platform to attack from all game long.
Max, captaining from scrum half, led by example with sharp decision-making and excellent control of the tempo. His vision and crisp passing set up many of the team’s attacking plays, while his tackling around the fringes was equally impressive.
Out wide, Tom made several explosive runs down the wing, gaining vital metres and keeping Abby College’s defence under pressure. Rebel also made a big impact on the other wing, scoring two well-deserved tries through speed, awareness, and determination.
At fullback, Ethan was outstanding. Safe under the high ball and confident in attack, he scored some brilliant tries and provided a constant threat with his pace and positioning.
Clem, despite his smaller stature, was fearless in defence and pulled off a series of incredible tackles that earned him the well-deserved title of Man of the Match. His energy and work rate inspired the entire team.
Quelle was another standout performer, showcasing lightning speed and powerful runs to notch up the most tries of the match, alongside several fantastic tackles that stopped Abby College’s advances in their tracks.
Remy also put in an excellent performance, working tirelessly across the pitch with strong carries and solid defence, making a real difference in both attack and support play.
The Coach’s Player Award went to Ed, who combined immense strength with relentless tackling throughout the game. His work at the breakdown and in open play was crucial in keeping momentum on our side.
Overall, it was a fantastic team performance — full of heart, strength, and skill. Every player played their part in securing a well-earned win against tough opposition. Written by Max (Y8 Student)

On Tuesday afternoon we played in the second round of the National cup against Ramsey Abbey College. Although it was a bit of a tough game all of the girls gave 100% energy and gave it their all on the pitch. Coaches and opponents player of the match was Isla , she showed pure determination to win and played her very best. Captains player of the match , Cataleya who was strong and resilient on the pitch. Also she scored our first goal of the day and Clara followed up with a second goal. I am very proud of all the girls and can’t wait for round three!! Written by Clara (Y8 Student)
U16 Boys ESFA Cup Round 1 vs Longsands
A local derby faced the U16’s in the ESFA cup as they travelled to Longsands to kickstart their FA Cup journey. It was a tight encounter, with the sides at 1-1, thanks to a Jailen solo wonder goal and a tactical masterclass from Mr Pape taking us to extra-time. The sides could not be separated still so penalties determined the outcome of the tie. 14 penalties each, 3 saves from Frankie in goal and Stan scoring the 14th and decisive penalty meant we march on to the next round with a 9-8 win on penalties.

U14 Boys ESFA Round 1 vs Swavesey
We arrived knowing they were a good team and knew we would have to put in a good performance to beat them, and we realised that when we went 1-0 down quite early in the match they were passing well and really composed in front of goal. But we stayed calm and found ways to break them down including playing passes over the top of their defenders to Morgan (Anderson) where he scored 4 very similar goals with the assists from Joe (Hunt), Harry (Bowden), Corey (Moyo-Kemp) and Charlie (Cochrane) with James (Clarke) scoring a good goal from outside the box, with Nick (Britt) making some crucial saves to keep us in the match.
We went into the second half 4-3 up but knew they could easily come back so we had to make good challenges and defend well as well as trying to score more goals to secure the win. Which we ended up doing winning 5-3 and advancing to the next round of the cup.

U18 Boys First XI CDC League vs Long Road
On a graceful Wednesday afternoon on the 1st of October ,our Year 12 football team, captained by Munashe Masvipurwa and managed by Mr. Smith and Mr. Banks, produced a stunning performance to overpower Long Road Sixth Form with a commanding 7–2 victory.
The visitors started brightly, catching us off guard with an early strike to make it 1–0. But the response was instant. A whipped Lopez free-kick levelled the score before the skipper, Masvipurwa — battling through injury — combined with Jimoh for a clinical bottom-corner finish that lifted the team’s morale. Moments later, Chubb rose highest from a set piece to tap in home his first goal for the side, and just before the interval Lopez dazzled with a tremendous run to give us a 4–1 lead at the break.
In the second half, Lopez calmly ball-rolled the keeper to seal his hattrick, though Long Road struck back with a deflected effort. But any hopes of a comeback were crushed by our talisman Masvipurwa as he curled home a majestic goal from a Gannon through ball, before completing his hattrick with a breathtaking half-volley that zoomed past the keepers sight ,his infamous “direct shot”
The backline, marshalled by Brace, stood resolute throughout, while the midfield’s tireless work kept the game under control, and the attack as clinical as ever.
Final Score: Hinchingbrooke 7–2 Long Road

On Wednesday the 1st of October we had yet another netball game. This time many
more girls came, and we scored 3 goals which is better than last time. As well as that
the girls did a lot better at defending and marking our opponents. I am
glad that so many girls came and I hoped they enjoyed it. The schools we played
against were Longsands and Abbey. We had so much fun and thank you to all the girls
who took part.

In a brilliant 53–0 win, the whole squad played their part in a dominant team effort. Stan, new to rugby but lightning quick from football, stormed over for two tries and took home Man of the Match. Clem was fearless in defence with standout tackling, while Riley bulldozed through defenders to earn Coaches’ Player and second in the Man of the Match vote. Captain Max led by example at scrum half, controlling the game superbly and keeping the team organised. The entire scrum was immense, with Austin at the back and Clem, Remy, Riley, Ethan, and Logan driving the pack forward. Quielle’s creativity saw him both score and set up tries, James nearly dotted down with his football pace, and Reble dazzled with his stepping runs to grab more scores. Oliver calmly slotted every conversion and kick to keep the scoreboard ticking. Tom made an important contribution on the wing, getting his hands on the ball and providing a crucial assist to Reble in the final play, which resulted in a try. It was a complete performance, full of energy, skill, and teamwork.

U14 Girls ESFA Round 2 vs Samuel Whitbread
After a commanding performance in round 1 last week the Year 8/9 Girls Football Team were excited to take to the field again. ⚽️
The girls came up against a strong Samuel Whitbred team in Round 2 of the National Cup, who were deserved winners. The HBK girls battled hard throughout and were rewarded with two wonder goals from Aliya! 🔥
Maryam was awarded coaches player of the match for her strength when in possession of the ball. With Aliya taking the opposition player of the match, presumedly for her brilliance in front of goal. 👏👏

U15 Boys ESFA Cup Round 1 vs Lincroft Academy
On a windy Monday afternoon, the U15’s travelled to Lincroft academy for the first round of the FA cup. We had a rough start and conceded a goal in the first 5 minutes, but Roberts quickly acted on it by scoring a nice volley minutes after. Around 15 minutes later we had some poor defending and conceded 2 goals in the space of 2 minutes. Shortly followed but another 5 minutes later. This put the score at 4-1 to Lincroft Academy at half time.
At the start of the second half it didn’t take long for Sinclair to score a flick on header from a beautiful chip from Webb. Off the kickoff Lincroft academy passed the ball to their goalkeeper and sinclair managed to steal the ball and finish it into the back if the net. 1 minute later Sinclair was through on goal by a gorgeous ball over the top from Kimber. Sinclair took his chance and buried it bottom corner. This level the game to 4-4, Sinclair had scored a hat-trick in 3 whole minutes!!! We dominated the next 20 minutes but struggles to put the ball in the back of the net but one man stepped up to score to make it 5-4 and it had to be Sinclair! His fourth goal came from a superb low cross from Roberts and Sinclair managed to tuck the ball in past the keeper!!! We seed the last 5 minutes out to go on to win the game 5-4. This was an outstanding performance from the team to score back 4 goals in the second half for an amazing comeback.

U14 Girls ESFA Cup Round 1 vs St Mary’s
We delivered a dominant performance in our 5-0 win, Bailey starting off with a thunderous strike, then Clara putting on a sensational display by scoring 4 goals and earning the Opposition Player of the Match. Our control was on point that our Goalkeeper only touched the ball once! Despite having no subs, every player gave 100%, showing real determination and team spirit. Darcy was outstanding throughout and deservedly received the Coaches Player of the Match for her effort and composure. Although our captain arrived late, she made a positive impact by encouraging the team throughout. A fantastic all-round performance full of energy, teamwork, and positivity.

U18 Boys First XI CDC Fixture vs Cambourne
On a brisk autumn afternoon the lads from Hinchingbrooke took on the mighty Cambourne in our first game of the season.
Many debuts for the club including our own Lopez, Marsh, Jimoh, Kashif, Turner, Brace, and Ganno. The game started tough with the ball ping-ponging up and down the pitch with both teams having to deal with the tough gailforce winds. We broke through with a sublime strike from Smith midway through the half. The boys, though 1-0 up, struggled to get a foothold on the game as there were many tactical fouls from the Cambourne midfield. Just before the end of the half however, Cambourne no. 10 missed an open goal as Brace decided to give him an opportunity from the kindness of his heart. As the second half got underway the boys started quickly as a well-worked dribble from Smith unlocked an opportunity for him to put it away which he did well. 5 minutes later, Lopez produced a carbon copy of the second goal however finishing with his weak foot instead. Another 5 minutes passed where Lopez scored an excellent goal which somehow didnt cross the line (according to the lino). Masvi then scored the last goal with a calm finish from a beautiful ball through from Marsh. Seeing the game out, the boys played an unbelievable offside trap and Cambourne just couldnt get through. Brace with wonderful save at the death, the boys ended the game 4-0 with 2 goals from Smith and a goal each from Lopez and Masvi. The midfield 3 being a force to be reckoned with (SmithxLopezxMasvi) and the defense being solid, the boys have a shout for the league title this season.

Today’s matches were intense! Maryam was a powerhouse, making some incredible tackles. Bella was on fire in goal, saving the day on multiple occasions but even though we didn’t manage to win, we learned to play with confidence More importantly, we had such a great time playing together, even making friends with our opponents and that’s what really count

We had an incredible 2 matches, although we didn’t win any, we conceded only one goal throughout—thanks to our solid teamwork and determination. Simone and Jess, who were both new to football, absolutely smashed it on the pitch, showing real skill and growing confidence. Amelia was brilliant in goal, making some crucial saves to keep us safe, and working fantastically with Mia, who was our defending superstar. One of the best parts of the day was the great sportsmanship all around—we even made friends with the opposition and got a team photo together at the end. Huge shoutout to Liv for refereeing, what a legend!

U12 Girls District Netball vs Abbey, St Peter’s and Ivo Academy
On Wednesday 24th of September we played netball against 3 different schools. We all had an amazing time representing the school. We won one match 2-0 and conceded the rest of the games. That doesn’t really matter though, what does is that the girls showed up and gave it their best shot. We will continue to work hard on our skills but with great determination, brilliant enthusiasm, and super effort we will continue to thrive. Thank you to all the girls that came, and I hope that they enjoyed the game.
U18 Boys ESFA Cup Round 1 vs The Perse
On a sunny and blustery afternoon, the U18’s travelled to The Perse to kick off their ESFA Cup campaign. It was a slow start to the game as we struggled to maintain possession, but once we got the first goal through Quenet, the game opened up, our quality and intensity improved and we piled on the pressure before doubling our lead just before half time as Griffiths and Quenet combined.
At the start of the second half, Quenet scored his second of the afternoon after pressing the goalkeeper and closing down his clearance. The goal of the day came from Bruce who volleyed home from 10 yards following a deep Masvipurwa corner. Quenet then completed his hat trick, quickly followed by Masvipurwa scoring on debut after latching onto a pass from fellow debutant Lopez.
The Perse got a goal back after a defensive mix-up, but it was a comfortable victory as we build into the new season and look to make it all the way to Wembley for the final. We have another away fixture to come in Round 2 against either Springwood or Neale Wade.
